Matt McLeod received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Southern Methodist University in 1987 and has studied art with renowned artists including Impressionist Barry Thomas, Realists Kevin Kress, David Bailin, Don Ginzler and Dominique Simmons, award-winning Portrait Artist Henry Wingate and award-winning Canadian Landscape Artist Mike Svob.
In March of 2003 Matt left a career in advertising to paint full-time and to start teaching. He currently teaches lessons by appointment for adults and high school aged kids. He also offers several 3-5 day painting workshops throughout the year.
Matt considers himself an Abstract Impressionist. He he trying to find a new look by fusing Impressionism and Abstract Impressionism to create an innovative, contemporary style that combines smart compositions, representational forms and vivid abstract color. His work is included in several private and corporate collections across the United States including the Arkansas Governor’s Mansion permanent collection, St. Vincent Health System and The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.
