Don’t have 180 days?!? Well, come to the International Village and go around the world in a matter of minutes! This exciting section of Riverfest includes crafts and performers from countries all over the world! Join us at the Riverfest 2011 International Village as we celebrate PEACE AROUND THE WORLD. Crafts for 2011 include:
Latin America – a Peace Banner also known as Roerich’s Banner: a symbol showing the willingness to protect the cultural area during a time of peace and war.
West Africa – “Knot of Pacification/Reconciliation” representing West Africa’s MPAPTAPO:Knot of pacification/reconciliation.
Greece – The Olive Branch – In Greece it is said that the Olive Tree will not grow in times of war so our International Village will have peace and plentiful olive trees.
Italy – Peace Flag – The multicolored peace flag was used in 1961 in Italy to unify all sides during a peace march.
United States – Peace Sign Necklace – decorate a peace sign necklace to channel your “peace love and happiness” experience.
Great Britain – White Poppy – The white poppy is a symbol of a peaceful pledge that will continue through the future.
Israel, Middle Eastern Arabic Nations and the United States – Shalom, Salaam, Peace – learn to say and write “peace” in 3 different languages
Visit all of these countries in one place – Riverfest 2011!
The International Village will be located west of the KidZone Stage in the Riverfront Park Belvedere. International Village is open from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm on Saturday and 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Sunday. Enjoy Riverfest’s international experience.
